The illustrious Thiru. A.M.M.Sinnamani Nadar( 1894-1962 ) formed the AMMS Group in the year 1917. Born into a textile family, Thiru SinnamaniNadar established the first cotton ginning facility in southern Tamilnadu,India, at Vilathikulam. He was also instrumental in founding of the NadarBank( now Tamilnad Mercantile Bank ). He established the TuticorinSpinning Mills in 1945. AMM Sinnamani Nadar Middle School located at Ganesa Nagar/Tuticorin offer services in the field of school education which was established in 1955 later become a Hr.Sec. School.

Kamaraj College was founded in 1966 by the Tuticorin Education Society. Thiru A..M.S.S. Ganesa Nadar, son of A.M.M.Sinnamani Nadar was the founder-patron of the Society and the College. Thiru A.M.M.S.G. Kathiresan is the patron of our College.

The College has been named after Bharat Ratna Shri. K. Kamaraj as a tribute to the invaluable service rendered by him to our nation, particularly to the cause of education.
