Porayar Thavasamuthu Rathnasamy Nadar

Porayar Thavasamuthu Nadar had three sons, Rathnaswami, Vallathambi and Guruswami.

Thavasamuthu lived with his three sons and their families in the family house at Porayar, Tanjore District. He was a man of considerable wealth, huge estate properties in Porayar and influence in the society, but died in the year 1885. His sons and families were


T.Rathnaswami-Amanthammal family had two sons and a daughter

T.Vallathambi -Janaki Animal family had five sons and a daughter

T.Guruswami -Raja Rajeswari Ammal had three sons and a daughter

Rathnaswami Nadar remained still influential in the society and donated huge sums to start the first Nadar community schools at Virudhupatti and other villages in Ramanathapuram Jillah. He was instrumental in establishing and organising the Tanjore Jillah Nadar Mahajana Sangam Annual Conferences in the year 1910 February at Porayar and December, 1910 at Madras along with the suuport of his brother's son T.V.Ponnusami.

A school was formed in the Porayar in the name of Thavasamuthu Nadar. A library at Virudhupatti was established with contribution of Rathnaswami Nadar and named as Porayar T Rathnaswami Nadar Library. This Library cuased the growth of Congress Movement within the Nadar Society.

But soon T.Rathnaswami Nadar expired. Followed by him his brother T.Vallathambi also expired later and Guruswami died in the year 1920, hence in the year 1921 the family had to undergo through partition.

T.V.Balaguruswami was the President of Nadar Mahajana Sangam in the year 1921 and hence became one of the director of Nadar Bank when it was formed in 1921.
