Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Urvinmurai Dharma Fund was started in 1920 at Thiruthangal village by a few wellmeaning and like-minded elders concerned in the development of the community. Thiruthangal Nadar Bungalow was built on 28th October 1929 by the laudable efforts of Sri. V. Hariharaputra Nadar, the treasurer of Thiruthangal Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund.

On 9th October 1963 Kalaimagal Primary School was started.

Later a Girls Higher Secondary School in the name of Sivasubramania Nadar and Guruvammal was started on 21st June 1982 . Karuman Karuppanna Nadar Ayyakannammal Matriculation School was commenced on 3rd June 1991 . More than 5000 students receive quality education and about 110 teachers are employed in these institutions.

Thiruthangal Hindu Nadars, settled in Chennai planned to form an organization for their welfare, assembled at Backia Bhavanam (located in Tondiarpet, Chennai) of T.A.S. Rathinam & Brothers, on 14th September, 1956 .

52 persons attended the meeting, and established The Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund (a Charitable Fund of Thiruthangal Hindu Nadars living in Chennai). The first Anniversary was held on 15th September 1957 . The said fund was registered in 1961 under the Societies Registration Act.

The next milestone event took place in 1968 when the organization purchased a site in G.A. Road , (Now P.A.N. Rajarathinam Road), Washermenpet, Chennai-21. In the said site, a magnificent building with Door No. 113, named as Thiruthangal Nadar Arangam-en epitome of the Member’s unity and solidarity was constructed with the great efforts of Thiru.M.G.Erulangudi Nadar, Treasure of Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar uravinmurai Dharma fund. The Arangam was inaugurated on 23rd May 1983 to serve the community at large.

Another turning point in the organization is the establishment of “Thiruthangal Nadar Educational Society” as part of Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund on 20th September 1987 . The society was registered under TamilNadu Registration Act 1975.

On 3rd August, 1997 the “ Thiruthangal Nadar College ” for men was started as an Arts and Science College , as a Self-Financing Institution.

On 30 th April 2004 the Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund had Purchased 14.5 grounds of land worth about Rs. 1.5 crores at No. 1050, T.H. Road , Chennai-600019 to establish “ THIRUTHANGAL NADAR MATRICULATION HIGH SCHOOL ”
